What stands out from my internship with Advokids is from day one feeling welcomed and like I was a part of the group. "In my time as a Psychology Intern at Advokids in the Summer of 2019, I collected and compiled research on childhood trauma, attachment, and development as it pertains to children in the foster care system. I was given the opportunity to have real life exposure to the types of cases Advokids was working on by sitting in on weekly meetings where the team reviewed cases. This hands-on learning gave me insight into what type of educational material would be helpful for clients to access on the Childhood Trauma resources tab on the Advokids website, as well as motivated me to collect tailored and thoughtful material. I felt that the projects I was working on were contributing to the important work being done at Advokids.
