Testimonials

"I am so thankful for the opportunity that was provided to me and I cannot ever thank everyone for the extreme compassion I was given throughout the challenging time that was June 2020. I was given such grace in test preparation and understanding in all that was our new normal of COVID 19. What stands out from my internship with Advokids is from day one feeling welcomed and like I was a part of the group. I was encouraged to participate in all areas and my input was respected and acknowledged. I was able to work on varies projects from attending special educational conferences to calling past clients. I was able to shadow hotline calls to better understand what Advokids Lawyers and social workers did for the community. I was also afforded an extensive education in juvenile dependency that I will be able to use in my legal career. What I learned is that each and every person in Advokids was passionate about their work, and passionate about helping make the situations for children and those who care for them better. They are extremely dedicated and hardworking, focused on making courts, federal agencies, and state agencies follow the law. Advokids offers a variety of different avenues when interning. Your ideas are welcomed, you can work on the salesforce platform, on client contact, or on legal research. The door to ideas is open. The entire staff is highly competent and versed in all things juvenile dependency making it exciting and interesting to be a part of Advokids. I will forever be changed by my positive experience with Advokids." - Samantha, Legal Intern, 2020

"In my time as a Psychology Intern at Advokids in the Summer of 2019, I collected and compiled research on childhood trauma, attachment, and development as it pertains to children in the foster care system. I was given the opportunity to have real life exposure to the types of cases Advokids was working on by sitting in on weekly meetings where the team reviewed cases. This hands-on learning gave me insight into what type of educational material would be helpful for clients to access on the Childhood Trauma resources tab on the Advokids website, as well as motivated me to collect tailored and thoughtful material. I felt that the projects I was working on were contributing to the important work being done at Advokids. Finally, it was a wonderful opportunity to learn from the passionate, intelligent, and savvy legal professionals at Advokids." - Sophie, Psychology Intern, 2019
